“For some, church has become a ritualistic activity that yields no fruit because so many of us have learned how to do church and create a church experience. WE need a true experience with God not a man-made experience. His glory is what we need." Majestic. Voice of an Angel. Powerful. Awe-Inspiring. All words that have been used by many to describe the ministry and voice of 24 year old preacher, singer, songwriter and producer Cortney Richardson. If you spend just a few moments with Cortney, you will see that he is undoubtedly a WEAPON OF MASS INSPIRATION. A native Memphian, University of Memphis graduate, entrepreneur and licensed minister, Richardson has inspired many through his strong leadership qualities and character. Richardson’s ministry influence is tangible on the college campus, his local church, community organizations, and as the youngest member of the Ben Hooks Institute Board. Childhood yielded the discovery of his passion for singing. He has since traveled the world singing the Lord’s song, even in strange lands. In December 2007, Richardson was part of a 7 City European Tour and has since become an integral part of the New York based Glory Gospel Singers under the leadership of Phyliss McKoy-Joubert. As part of “Junigatsu” 2012 & 2013, Richardson traveled with the Glory Gospel Singers on a 21 concert Japan Tour. There he ministered as part of the enthralling Glory Gospel Tenors. This inimitable trio captivated audiences across the island of Japan. His remarkable voice can be heard on the Glory Gospel Singers’ “Manhattan Kiss” release, featuring the music of Mariya Takeuchi. In addition to “Manhattan Kiss”, Richardson was part of an acapella GGS ensemble that recorded “White Christmas”, a worldwide top seller for the GGS franchise. His gift quickly made room for him, as he took the helm of a total of five songs on the two projects. Richardson, a new comer no longer quickly became a crowd favorite with his three octave range. Richardson’s recently released EP features 3 songs and a worship reprise. His passion for worship is reflected in his very own masterpiece, “In This Place”. Also the title track, “In This Place” expresses his sincere desire for God’s glory to be revealed in His people. You’ll also hear “The Corinthian Song” written by V. Michael McKay. Richardson’s rendition stands worlds apart from previously recorded versions by Kathy Taylor and Micah Stampley. McKay says of Richardson “He can record anything that comes from my pen.” Look for more collaborations from the two, soon. The blistering opener to the EP, “Famous” was penned by Grammy nominated composer James Wilson. Of it Richardson says: "This song speaks of my passion which is to make the name of JESUS famous, that’s what I was created for”. Whether in state of the art auditoriums, the National Civil Rights Museum, The Peabody Hotel, venues domestically and internationally, or the local church, this mighty minstrel sings as an inspired worshipper. He is the man of Psalm 1; a man of integrity and action that believes “the place of comfort is the place of paralysed potential.” To connect with him, find him on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, & Social Cam @CortneyInspires.
