Special thanks to Robert Queen and Overflow Publishing for allowing SMG to make this graphic such an integral part of our tribute.
Today, we pause to remember one of the brightest smiles to ever grace the face of the earth, Dr. Maya Angelou. She is the wordsmith who, with her grammatical adroit skillfully crafted a strong, positive image of blackness. It was with the reach of her arms, span of her hips, stride of her step and curl of her lips, she fashioned a timeless model of femaleness and black womanhood.
To the late Dr. Angelou: We are forever pupils in life's class instructed by this, our distinguished Professor. Though we may not have fully and truly learned every lesson in time, may not have quoted each line accurately, may not reach the potential you inspired by just being you, we will never, never ever forget the way you made us feel!
With such a tremendous loss today, we are broken. With bowed heads and lowered eyes, shoulders falling down like teardrops and overcome to the point of weakness by our soulful cries. Yet in all this, one thing remains..."And Still I Rise!" We have the blessed hope of the resurrection whereby Paul says this: "...for the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first..." I Thess. 4:16
Today, the SoulProsper Media Group 'rises' to salute Dr. Maya Angelou, our Phenomenal Woman. She was a real inspiration to people everywhere. She became both the exception and the rule and we assume it safe to think that there will never be another like her. We salute God almighty for His creation, Ms. Angelou and thank Him for his strength in her life these 86 years. Undoubtedly, it is He who alone was the source of her strength and well documented strength of her life. With these thoughts, we bow in humble submission to the perfect and divine will of God and lift our hands in total praise to our saviour.
'Caged' by illness no longer, she now sings in the heavenly choir. A morning song perhaps; as dawn has broken, and the cover of night is withdrawn. "I sing because I'm happy. I sing because I'm free. His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me."
The SoulProsper Media Group is grateful for the life and storied legacy of the late Poet Laureate Dr. Maya Angelou and will forever cherish her manifold contributions to humanity. Our prayers are with her family and the worldwide community as we endure this period of bereavement and ultimate celebration of a life so richly blessed.
