Tye Tribbett turns the House of Blues into a House of Praise!!!
Kirk Franklin and Tye Tribbett are a formidable duo. Kirk burst through the gates 20 years ago and single-handedly set gospel music on a crash course with a new destiny. He took gospel music to a new place, but who will take it from 'there'? Since breaking on the scene, very few artists have been able to do what he has done and continues to do. Names like Tye Tribbett are one of the very few who could even be mentioned in that conversation. So, what happens when Franklin and Tribbett team up on a national tour at the House of Blues? You guessed it, the rest is history...!
On a stormy night in Dallas, Tye Tribbett was on FIRE at House of Blues Dallas. Kirk Franklin brought the tour with Tribbett headlining to the heart of the city and gospel lovers showed up in record numbers to get their praise on. The evening also featured Tasha Page-Lockhart who set the atmosphere with a blazing set of her own. The Walls Group had the night off and though they were missed, Tribbett more than made up for the "Satisfied" singers.
...the rain fell outside, but holy fire fell in the House of Blues, of all places...!
The energy in the room was electric all night as Tribbett's set drew near. Tasha Page-Lockhart showed that she's capable of bringing her 'best' any night of the week and was the perfect warm up to Tribbett, engaging the crowd throughout her set. Nearing the end of her set, Lockhart got a little help from Tribbett's keyboard player and drummer who helped elevate the atmosphere drawing the standing room only crowd to its feet.
With baited breath, concert goers watched as the stage hands set the stage for Tribbett and suddenly the lights went down and the crowd went UP! From start to finish, Tribbett performed and ministered like a polished entertainment veteran. There are some things only Tye Tribbett can do. Last night, he made sure to add to that growing list. At one point in time during the concert, Tye turned one of his hits into a quartet song which immediately drew cheers from the whole room.
Along with the quartet styled interlude, Tribbett's commentary kept the evening fresh and without a stale moment throughout. Known for his praise breaks, Tribbett showed Dallas a new shout, complete with choreography. Ever the master teacher, he taught it slowly then sped it up 10 times!
Making the night much more incredible, singers and musicians from the DFW metroplex showed up in huge numbers and all left inspired as Tribbett poured out artistically and spiritually. For those in attendance...FISHES! This concert/worship experience was off the meters, five stars isn't enough to truly convey the all magic rolled into one night!
Listen to Fred's take on Luke 5
Tye performed music from each of his releases and each song was met with approval from the capacity crowd. While many may have felt their favorites were overlooked during the two hour set, the encore was the great equalizer! As the group exited the stage, cheers and frantic claps erupted as to coax them back on the stage for one last tune. Alas, it worked! Tribbett came prepared with not only an encore, but an encore set! In this set he performed a select few of his early hits, cementing this night's place in gospel music lore as one of the best ever!
Tye's twin brother Thaddeus dropped in for a few notes and danced in the background in between bass cameos. Also on hand were Mrs. Tribbett and their daughters. The night was incredible and will be one not soon forgotten for all in attendance! Special thanks to Kirk Franklin, House of Blues and Live Nation for this incredible night of worship!
