The Jones Family Singers
The Jones Family Singers came to Dallas to screen their documentary "The Jones Family Singers Will Make a Way" for the MegaFest audience. What was shown was merely a portion of the feature film which compiled 3 years of footage. The portion of the film shown at MegaFest introduced viewers to the Jones Family Singers and chronicled their move from Bay City, Texas to Houston, Texas. The patriarch of the group, Bishop Fred Jones, Sr. commutes to Pastor the same flock in Bay City. In addition to MegaFest, the documentary has been screened at SXSW(South by Southwest), The Dallas Film Festival and The Film Fleadh in Ireland.
Film director Alan Berg was also on hand to give his directorial insight into the project, he also presented on another panel later in the week. Following the documentary, The Jones Family Singers took to the stage to perform their latest single: "Down On Me" which was received to thunderous applause and quartet two stepping all over the room. Lead by the youngest, Alexis, the JFS captivated the near capacity room with their harmonies, dance moves down home Texas quartet/blues gospel swag. By the time Bishop Jones took the helm, the whole room was on its feet! He called out dance moves, but this ain't no square dancin' y'all! The Jones Family Singers got down at the International Faith & Film Festival! Both the documentary and JFS cd's are available on iTunes. Add them both to your collection, today!

Kirk Whalum
Kirk Whalum was on hand to discuss the parts of his documentary "The Gospel According to Jazz Vol. IV" which screened later that evening. He played a portion of the Dolly Parton classic popularized by the late Whitney Houston. He played his easily recognizable solo from "The BodyGuard" sountrack that has been heard all over the world. Roland Martin dropped by the Press Room to talk about his upcoming special report with Soledad O'Brien covering the aftermath of devastating Hurricane Katrina. Along with his report of the infrastructure of the once doomed city, he takes a close look inside the education system and examines its charter schools experiment since the deluge. The special report airs this week on NewsOne and culminates with a special on Friday at 9 am EST.
Woodlawn Screening
At the screening of "Woodlawn" actress Sherri Shepherd, producer Jon Erwin and Michelle Duffie were on hand to give screeners the backstory of the feature film made of a true story. The film follows the story of the Woodlawn football team who experiences a 'Jesus Revolution' of its own. Their turn around is attributed to a strong FCA presence and personal revival of players and coaches. The film is set to release on October 16,2015. Watch the first trailer below.
3 1/2 minutes 10 bullets (The Jordan Davis Story)
The documentary tells the story of Jordan Davis who was gunned down at a gas station by Michael Dunn. According to Davis' mother Lucia McBath, the documentary tells the full story of her son. She spoke of the editing process and how they chose to leave elements in the film that didn't paint her son in the best light. The Q&A panel that followed the screening included Attorney Benjamin Crump, Esq, Eugene Shneeberg, Tina Naidoo, Sybrina Fulton, Lucia McBath, Ron Davis and Deborah Langford as moderator.
