Joe Ligon was a beloved, groundbreaking artist whose unique singing and performing style made him truly unforgettable. A three-time GRAMMY® winner for his work with gospel group Mighty Clouds Of Joy, Joe remained steadfast in his commitment to musical excellence and the arts for over five decades, carving a path for other contemporary gospel artists. Our creative community has lost a truly gifted and cherished artist and our sincerest condolences go out to Joe’s family, friends, and all of those who had the pleasure of working with him.

June 20, 2014 the legend came to town and we couldn't be more excited. The room was full of gospel fans waiting to experience the #BossMan in Arlington, Texas. The Mighty Clouds of Joy came to town and there was a meeting in town you wanted to be a part of. It was an unforgettable night and one I regularly reflect on as a journalist. I was gifted with the opportunity to meet one of my favorite singers of all time. Mr. Joe Ligon of the the Mighty Clouds of Joy is gone from labor to reward but the indelible mark he left on recorded music (gospel and secular) will forever be cherished. -Fred Willis
