Trenacia Esseboom
Sometimes success comes at the end of a long journey and it proves that hard work and dedication does pay off.
Guyanese Gospel Artiste / Minister Mrs Trenacia Esseboom – McKend is making strides and her work is now being acknowledged not just locally but regionally and now in North America in a way that many long for. In the shadows of a rare few other Guyanese musicians, Trenacia now finds herself in the ranking of other Caribbean Gospel artiste as she has been nominated for Gospel Music Minister of the Year (Female) at the Atlanta Caribbean Music Awards, which will be held in Atlanta, USA later this year.
Trenacia is the first born of two children to Bishop Terrence Esseboom (University of Guyana Print Journalism Lecturer) and Vanessa Esseboom, who both Pastor at the Light of Lights New Testament Church in Georgetown. She acknowledges that growing up with parents who are Pastors has helped her walk with the Lord to be a steady and strong one.
Trenacia has been singing for almost all her life, and has steadily been coming to great prominence locally, as she is known for her powerful vocals that set her apart and above many local talents, both in and out of the Church.
She possesses an animated personality to go along her captivating smile and usually infectious laughter. But beneath the warm exterior resides a steely determination to excel at the highest level of Gospel Music
“The pressure was tremendous. I was expected to be an “angel,” spotless and pure. Everything I did, was, and still is, criticised. As difficult as it may have been it is what fuelled her determination towards excellence. She recalls her mother, Vanessa Esseboom, always saying to her “turn the negative energy to a positive one” which is what kept her going many times.
In her own words Mrs McKend says “I aspire, I reach, I hunger for greatness. I will be all that GOD has called me to be. HIS will must be fulfilled in me! I know there is a lot of pressure and I have a lot of expectations to live up to but I am grateful for it. It has made me who I am, strong in the LORD”.
