Brittany Johnson & Identity
“If anybody asks me who I am, just tell them I’m a child of God.” These words could be heard sung by 3 year old Brittany Johnson as she stood in the chair at her grandfather’s church. Little did she know this was just the beginning.
Brittany sang through grade school and began directing gospel choirs in high school. Soon after, she became the Minister of Music at the Marvellous Light Community Church, Pastor Eugene Johnson, where she currently leads worship and directs the choir.
After college, God began to divinely order her steps to meet and connect with some of the cities most anointed local gospel artists’. In addition, churches all over Dallas began to request that she minister through song in their services. She has been afforded the opportunity to grace the stage with artist such as Vickie Winans, Crystal Aikin, Kathy Taylor, Jonathon McReynolds, Ernest Pugh, Chrystal Rucker and the Dallas Chapter of GMWA. She will even be featured on Bobby Jones Gospel with Dr. Patrick Bradley and the Westside Baptist Church Choir this season.
In the summer of 2011, God began to give Brittany Johnson psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to help her commemorate the lessons He had taught her and the revelations He wanted her to teach to others. In January of 2012, God gave her the vision to form a group of young believers who were adamant about expressing praises to God through song.
Identity is made up of Liz Riley, Chasity Monk, Tamica Bedford, Isaiah Jones, Chad Lott, Joanie Dawson, Roma Kemp, and Rebecca Salazar. This group of young people came to be called Identity, a group that rests in the assurance of being adopted into God's royal family. No longer abandoned, alone, or hopeless, in Him they have Identity. These men and women purpose to not only be singers and hearers of the Word but doers also. It is the primary goal of Identity to be an example to all people, especially young people, of the great things God can do in and with the lives of willing vessels.
Brittany and Identity recently released their 1st album "Broken for a Blessing" in August of 2013.
Brittany believes that God has anointed her to teach, encourage, and admonish His people to trust in His unlimited power and everlasting love. She desires to reach somebody that is searching for their Identity and to ultimately draw more to Christ by lifting Him up.
